Vessel Manifest Confidentiality Request for Individuals importing or exporting Personal Effects and/or household goods.
In order to ship household goods and/or personal effects into or out of the USA, individuals are required by law to provide certain Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to the US Customs and Border Protection department (CBP). The CBP routinely releases this Personally Identifiable Information (PII) into the public domain where it is gathered by businesses which collate and publish or sell this information on to paying subscribers.
Most people are unaware that this routine dissemination of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) by the US Customs & Border Protection dept occurs until they find it freely available on the internet.
The United States Customs & Border Protection (CBP) dept does this because regulation 19 CFR 103.31 enables them to release and share this data into the public domain. The same regulation does however provide details on how individuals who do not want their Personally Identifiable Information (PII) circulated in public may seek confidentiality.
To request confidentiality, an individual must at the earliest opportunity, email [email protected] together with the necessary information.

If you prefer, you may save or print off the completed form and email a saved file or scanned copy directly to US CBP at the email address above.
We recommend that you complete and submit this form directly to the US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) dept as early in your move planning process as possible to ensure that the request is processed in time to prevent your PII being released. Only the individual importing or exporting can request confidentiality, we cannot do it on your behalf. We recommend also that you ensure that any and all possible variations of your name be listed on the form.
